custom notifications

I am a new Motorola Droid user and want to set up seperate notification preferences for emails and text messages. As of now, I can only set all notifications to on or off... Generally, I'd like for Text notifications to be audible and email notifications to be silent.

Can anyone help me do this, even if by referring to an app to manage notifications? I've looked some on market and can't find a solution.

but in each app you can change that apps notifications. missed call will add more customization to different apps notifications

I use handcet to handle my sms needs and k9 for my email. They each have their own notification settings.
