I have always been a fan of extra battery. Back in the day you could actually buy extended batteries which would come with custom battery doors. I had one of these massive bricks with the Droid Bionic. The Bionic with the extended battery was about like carrying 4 of today's phones at once. I will stick with the brick. I can see uses for the battery case. I guess it is for someone who uses the phone quite a bit and regularly need the extra power and don't have time to recharge with bricks.

my concern would be on how it charges the phone. if it constantly tops off the phone till the external battery discharges, that's not good for phone's battery as it put stress on it for prolonged period of time. reason why moto mod has an option to charge the phone with external battery after main one drops to 80% so that it doesn't degrade phone's battery faster then it should.

Most of them have a way to turn them on. Gives you full control of when to start and stop charging.

Hammerhead, I see the four links and was intrigued by the 10,000 mAh you were going to select. But I don't see a link with more than 8500.
