In the end there is speculation that it will become available due to the X's specs and popularity but no one knows for sure. My own theory is either: no due to the new devices being launched this year or if it does it will be so late not many people care anymore at that point.

If you google that question you will find several articles that discuss why the X would be a good candidate for gingerbread though.
