Help! . turn - off handwriting

I am the proud owner of a note 2 . It is new to me so of Course I've been playing around with it
I set the phone to use the handwriting mode instead of text keyboard and now I don't know hoo to get * back ! Could really use Some help! Thanks!

Tap and hold the microphone key. Then tap the keyboard icon. It will switch you back to normal.
