Htc one m8 Sd card slot not working

My HTC one m8 wont recognize the sd card I've tried different cards not cheap one's formatted to fat32 but nothing also if sd card in and I restart the phone it freezes on htc white screen if I look in storage sd unavailable happy to root phone if it will help

Welcome to the Forum

If the SD reader is defective, rooting won't help. You are better off having the phone replaced if it's still under warranty.
