LG G3 screen and digitizer compared to the G2

So I have heard horror stories about what happens if you get a screen crack with the G2 The whole screen becomes pretty much useless. I can't remember but I think it has something to do with the way the digitizer is attached to the screen or something along those lines. It was a while ago that I read this so not sure if that what it was. Anyway I was wondering if the G3 screen is the same way and could it possibly suffer the same fate.

Just picked up a Droid Turbo after switching back to VZW. But I really liked my G2 (had it on VZW and AT&T) so I am considering switching to the G3.

Not sure about my G3, but the asurion replacement for my wifes G2 (second replacement supposedly new) stared to have an area on the screen about 2/3 the way up all the way across that would not respond to touch. (about 2 weeks) after she got it with no drops or damage. She usually keeps it in loose jacket pockets or purse, and not in pants. Not sure what happened to it.
