Motorola Doubles Smartphone Shipments in Q1 2012 and Still Suffers $86 Million Loss

Motorola Mobility just released its Q1 2012 financial report, and while the company saw a significant increase in the number of smartphones it shipped compared to last year, it lost even more money this time around. Motorola reported that it shipped a total of 8.9 million mobile devices, of which 5.1 million were smartphones, in Q1 2012 compared to 6.2 million mobile phones, and 2.3 million smartphones in Q1 2011. Even with those numbers it wasn't enough to stop the downward spiral as losses were up to $86 million on revenues of $3.1 billion. With Jha out of the picture it will be interesting to see if they can turn this boat around.

Wow! That's not good, more units but the made less money? Ouch!?!
 
Hmmm, reminds me of another company (HTC) that this happened to last year (HTC). They made all these different phone models (HTC) but lost big money (HTC).

What was the name of that company, can't seem to remember....
