Cannot find Pic's in gallery

I had like 50 pics and a video in my gallery that were less than a year old and now they are completely gone! I checked my files and everything and they are completely gone! Any idea on how i can find them!? If i had to guess i would say they were saved onto the phone and not SD card. I will take any suggestions on how to recover them! Thank you so much!

pics and vids dont save to the phone. did you connect your phone to your pc and look for them?

Not yet. I am a newbie and i wouldnt know where to go once i do but if i do get that far, where do i look? Thanks for replying!

Once you have connected your computer to your phone using the usb card, change the usb setting to Mass Storage.

You should find your files in the DCIM/CAMERA folder

Would that be any different than going to DCIM under files on my phone?
