Got this for $5.50 shipped on eBay, quite satisfied! The ball is the same size that is used on our stock Droid car mounts. It uses tough 3M adhesive and is all around good quality. Eliminates a lot of the play and bulk found with the stock arm. Great for getting the Droid out of the direct sunlight on the dash as well.

That looks great. Can you post a link to a seller, and do they have enough quantity if demand is high for this?

Edit: NVM, I searched and found 5. Buying one now. :)

FYI for anyone interested. When I was going through the Buy It Now, it indicated there were 400+ items available in the quantity to purchase window.

Looks sweet!! I was afraid to ruining my dash so I decided to go with a vent mount.

Can't see where the steering wheel is in relation to the mount. does it block your view to the unit at all?

U have a 1996+ Jeep cherokee?

I dunno if i have a spot for that on my dash but it would be perfect since i had major heat issues on my 500 mile trip to San Diego using my droid as my nav.

these types of mounts also work with the moto car mount, i think its a universal design because my dads Garmin uses the same type of mount.

Just search "adhesive dash mount" on ebay and you will see tons of em

How does it work with the droid mount? Don't you need the ball?

Yes, you need the ball. I picked one of these up as well. I liked how it has a little more "reach" and would work better if the base was attached to a horizontal surface:

It is not obstructed at all, but likely would be for someone shorter(6'2"). I did not have many options in my vehicle, but this location works quite well for me.

Yep, '99 Cherokee.

You just unscrew the nut on the Droid and reattach it to the Garmin mount buy screwing the nut back on. This is the stock Droid mount, same ball as the Garmin.

Received the two mounts. I ended up using the one posted in the OP (first image) because it is more compact and suited my needs better for the space I mounted my wife's Eris. However, I thought I would mention that the base "plate" is rather thin and there is some flex in both the plate and the short/thin arm on this mount. I can't believe this mount would be good at supporting the heavier Motorola Droid. Though I admit I haven't tried the mount with my Droid.

The other mount, pictured in the second image is much sturdier/rigid. And it has a much wider base, but it IS quite a bit bigger in all dimensions. If you have an area large enough on your dash or instrument panel to put this big boy, then IMO, it would be better for the heavier Droid.

Do you have a link for the bigger mount?

Thanks!
