New Root for S5 and Other Devices (6/15/14)

So after you all have rooted, what is the first few things you do to optimize the S5?

these are the first things i do
use titanium backup to freeze all bloatware and back up all apps
install adfree it kills all the ads on your phone
there are a ton of other things you could do but for those two apps alone root is worth it

my phone is running like butter now but with verizons stuff its laggy even swiping the screens the animation would jerk often
if your comfortable enough to do it without messing your phone up then do it
but you'll void your warranty

Probably because this was the original root method and the S5 has had a few updates since this came out, thus changing the root process. If you can tell me who your carrier is and what OS version you're on, I can point you to the correct root method.

Wife got a Galaxy S5 from a family member this Christmas.. After playing and check it out I figured it was a clone. It's got tons of WACKY stuff going on with.. Prolly got a nice piece of foreign malware on it. Random SMS texts out.. noticed an in flood of spam in my email.etc..etc... It a nice phone but it really needs to Re-Rooted. and have some nice ROM installed. Here are the spec from CPU-z

Definitely not a real S5. I wouldn't even know where to start rooting that device.

Agreed, that's a complete fraud phone. I wouldn't begin to make recommendations about what you can and can't do with it. It may very well perform like a normal phone if used in its fully stock configuration but any changes or deviations from completely stock could tender it completely useless.

So As soon as I port all the data back over to her old phone either of you two wanna take a crack at it? I do realize that there are not promises or guarantees that it will work and I won't get a brick back. I will prolly not have any monetary resources compensate for time and efforts, but as former computer tech half the fun is the challenge of doing it just to do it.
