Sony is setting a great example for the rollout of Ice Cream Sandwich to their devices. Just last week the company rolled out Ice Cream Sandwich to the Xperia P, and this week they are starting the rollout to a massive swath of their other Xperia devices. Here's a list of Sony devices getting the update this week:
The Xperia:
- Arc
- Arc S
- Neo
- Neo V
- Mini
- Pro
- Active
- Ray
After the ICS rollout kick-off for Xperia P last week, we’re excited to tell you about our new Android 4.0.4 firmware for 2011 Xperia smartphones.
Starting from this week*, Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Xperia ray will receive a new Ice Cream Sandwich software update that comes with bug fixes, performance tweaks and other improvements.
Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo L and Live with Walkman are next up, and will start to receive their serving over the next few weeks.
If you’ve already upgraded to ICS, you’ll receive a notification in your phone and be able to download it over-the-air. For those guys on Gingerbread, you’ll need to plug in and upgrade using PC companion or Bridge for Mac. For more information, please visit Software - Sony Smartphones (Global UK English).
It's a shame that all the other OEMs can't have a more unified build system for their products so that they could follow Sony's example when rolling out new Android updates.
