Can't get video to play

The video I recorded won't play ,in details it shows its mp4 format and size is 500mb.I have tried several different players ,vlc,android , mx ,vidtrim and also updated codecs,also copied to my computer and still won't play.error message I receive is " can't play video" any ideas what else to try ?

You didn't mention "what" did the recording. Probably not your phone. The MP4 format is merely a container for different underlying formats. You may be able to play it if you use a video conversion program to (re) convert it to MP4. There is also a possibility the file is corrupt.

You could try to use Handbrake, to see if it can salvage your video. Still, maybe you should use a different app to record your video, unless this is happening from the stock camera app.

If VLC won't play it on your PC then the video is likely corrupt.
