I have a friend who has the Navigation app (the blue arrow pointing up) on her TMo Android phone (I think a Nexus). It was somehow deleted and she wants it back, but it doesn't show up in the Play Store.

I think if you download Google Maps, open it and look for navigation you will find what she needs...good luck!

My friend wants the actual app in the app drawer. Does she need to reinstall Google Maps to get it back?

The Navigation app is now integrated into the maps app. I I like your friend and wishes I had the separate app because I don't use maps. I only care about the navigation, but Google has removed it. There is nothing you can do short of side loading an old unsupported version.

Then why do I still have the Navigation icon in my drawer?

It;s possible something has not updated as it should have. Probably the MAPs app. Some stock apps don't appear as separate downloads in the Store.

So there's absolutely no way for my friend to get the Navigation icon back unless she downgrades her Google Maps app to a previous version?

Ok. Will let her know.

Thanks.

Try the map quest app...it's more straight forward than getting directions from Google maps

If anyone knows of a way to get back the navigation arrow and function I think numerous people would appreciate that information.

So far I haven't seen any reasonable way to achieve that end.

Check the link in post #11. But at some point you will fall further and further behind. And it will continue to bug you about updates.
