PC recognizing my Pro as MTP device

When I connect to USB, my PC recognizes it as "MTP DEVICE", rather than making it a drive. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the MOTO drivehelper to no avail.

I suspect that there's something installed to my PC that's causing this, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. It's definitely an issue where my PC selected the wrong driver. I need to know where the driver is and what's it's called so I can manually deleted it.

Thanks.

Droid Pro MTP driver issues

I've been researching this issue myself as I cannot seem to find a way around this. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and I just recently acquired my Droid Pro.

I can see the SD card from using USB Mass Storage mode, but this doesn't give me the sync options I'm looking for.

One solution I've found is here: Droid Pro (some Motorola phones) do not mount after Android Update - CompanionLink Knowledge Base

That basically tells you to go into device manager and change the drive from a MTP device to a USB Mass Storage device, but I don't have that option.

I've downloaded the USB drivers and software from Motorola here: USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA

Also downloaded and installed MotoCast which is suppose support syncing files: http://goo.gl/ePQjF

However the MotoCast doesn't recognize the phone, probably because Windows isn't loading a driver correctly. Does anyone know of a work-around or fix for this that actually works?

Thanks for the research. I will see if I can change the device to USB. My issue is it isn't even showing up as a drive.

I'm getting a new 4 on Wednesday anyway, so hopefully it will resolve itself!

Worked! Thank you!

Well I'm glad the topic I posted above could help someone. Still trying to figure out when I can't select USB Mass Storage device myself, I can't even seem to be able to manually load a generic driver for this. Kinda considering building a XP system out of spare parts just to get a system that can talk to my Droid Pro.

Good luck. Weird thing is I had no issues before I had to reinstall Vista a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks. It solved my problem. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit too.

Wow...thank you! I have been searching on and off for months now for a way to fix this, and this method finally worked. I'm sorry it didn't work for you.
