Physical keyboard backlight not working

Does the droid have a backlight for the physical keyboard? I realize that is a silly question but I have never typed on the physical keyboard in the dark before so I just noticed it isn't lit up. I tried toggling auto brightness with no luck. My digital keys under the screen are lit up.

yea with it open toggling brightness on the power widget always gets mine to turn on.

I thought it did, and toggling auto brightness always fixes the 4 buttons under the screen, wonder why it doesn't fix my physical kb? It is weird that these backlight problems are still happening as well. Seems like they've been a problem for a while. You would think Motorola would roll out a fix.
