Rooting now, Problem, please help.

not trying to trump tank's idea, but if you can't get 2.1 rooted, and your goal is to get to 2.2 anyway, you could always try this:

dont worry about it. ok i renamed the update.zip before i moved it to the sdcard. ive seen in some videos and guides that ppl have moved it FIRST then renamed it. Would this be whats wrong? seems odd that thatd be it, but im gonna try it

help please again, the froyo update.zip is encountering the same issue the rooted update.zip did. i change dthe name multiple times, put it back on my sdcard multiple times and it still wont install...

i didnt DO anything to fix it. it is the zip that contains froyo. i named it update. made sure it was update.zip why isnt it working on SPRecovery?

also, earlier i recovered my data that i had backedup before I rooted, which meant i needed to root again, but now I cant recover it. i get an error message saying Error: nandroid exited with status 20.

so i cant get back my stock 2.1 settings. im so frustrated. ive been doing this since 1 oclock, i just wanna quit and get my phone back to the way it was, now I have a clean phone that wont load this damn rom.
