If there's a virus on your computer you're unaware about, or if there is a file that is corrupted, is it possible to transmit that virus onto your phone when transferring files from your computer?

I doubt it. The types of malware on Android, at the moment, are typically transmitted through rogue apps and the types of infections a PC would get aren't the same as the ones you would get on Android.

The one big exception is if you attempt to use the PC to install one of the aforementioned infected apps.

You can install an app from your computer to your phone?

Yes, if you downloaded it from somewhere you shouldn't have. ;)

And you would also need to allow app installs from third parties.
