I just saw an article about post-purchase OTA bloatware installs. It will be very interesting to see developers block this stuff.

I haven't had a carrier branded device in a few years so I will be watching carefully.

It appears to be verizonignite on the vzw g3...you can disable it after you uninstall updates..

Yea, I have always had it disabled. I am getting really tired of this stuff from VZ.

Kind of why I stick with older Motorola phones when they owned them. I am glad so far I still have my unlimited data. Never going to update again.

Ugh...and this is just going to give Android a bad name because carrier branding. Didn't they learn anything from all the outrage for...ah crap now I can't remember what it's called and I'm too lazy to Google it? But maybe you all know what I'm talking about. I think it was CallerID now that I think about it...Anyways, it caused a lot of outrage for this exact reason and this is just low. However, I've been hearing most of this stuff VZW will allow us to uninstall: Verizon may soon allow Android users to remove majority of its bloatware

Not on my g3. Most likely due to the fact that I did not take the last update and I'm rooted and will not take updates, I usually wait for a stock debloated rom to drop from a reliable developer

Interesting. I didn't take the update either but I have it.

I wonder if it was preloaded or did they backdoor it via wifi or cellular data?

It was preloaded. I rooted 10 minutes after I got it and it is on the list of stuff I froze. I keep a list of changes I make like that in case I need to back out.

Mystery solved!

I've never had to deal with freezing anything bloat related since my phones have all been international models. With my move to another carrier and buying a branded phone it looks like I have some reading to do.

I have an update waiting from tmobile. ...not pulling the trigger.
