Most of my surfing via phone is done on forums or blogs. Typing in text boxs is horrid. Heaven forbid you have to go back and edit because placing or even seeing the damn cursor mid sentence is nearly nonexistent on any browser I have tried. The iphone beats the droid in this category hands down

Yea, you are absolutely right on that. I always wonder where the cursor is, and especially with passwords a lot of times the **'s don't even show up. I am using xScope, but this happens in all the browsers that I have tried.

Also, I wish the scrolling wasn't so choppy.

agreed^. As much as i hate to, i think i will sell my droid when the next android device comes to verizon. I rarely use the physical keyboard and find it hard to use and it always slides open when in my pocket.

I use the hardware keyboard almost exclusively and I don't find it one bit easier tbh. The dpad sometimes moves the cursor completely out of the text box and I still can't see the cursor usually when going to edit something. Like it's showing the cursor now but when I start clicking around it will eventually disappear

Swype here, although when trying to get to websites like here I end up with two words that I need to go back and kill the space out of "droid forums.net"

I haven't tried voice to text yet, except for in Handcent. Seems like it would be too "noisy" most of the time. I can picture people muttering if it takes off:)

I seem to always run in to the problem of not being able to scroll up and down within a text box. If I type a long message and want to scroll up to the top of my message, I always end up scrolling up the entire webpage. I've tried moving my finger slower, faster, holding for a second before moving, etc. Seems like 1 out of every 7 or 8 times I can get it to just smoothly scroll up and down within a text box, but the rest of the time is an utter crapshoot. Also, I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone or some setting I have wrong, but whenever I use the slide out keyboard (to use the dpad, thus avoiding my apparent inability to scroll with the touchscreen) I will center the view on a text box, click my cursor in it and when I start to type, my view scrolls to the bottom of the webpage. The cursor stays in the box and I can continue typing, but I can't see what I'm typing. And if I scroll back up, as soon as I type again it automatically scrolls back down. Wtf...

Yea I have this issue all the time since most of my actual browsing is done here and at alldroid. It's a bit of a pain. I REALLY hate logging in at alldroid because I always end up selecting the advertisement (This may be fixed now)

Not ur fault, another common problem. I started a thread about it some time ago

The physical keyboard is awesome once you get used to it... it's the only keyboard I use now. 100x better than the virtual keyboards... and I usually love virtual keyboards.

Yeah I am actualy considering uninstalling ShapeWriter....

i hate that if you click on something and go back it always brings you to the top not to where you were like in a browser on a computer

Fairly easy workaround: instead of just clicking links, press and hold on them. Then select "open in new window" from the list that pops up. Then, when you're done with that page, hit back and it will close the new window and take you back to the same place on the previous page. Still not ideal, but manageable.
