2.2 Gmail Question

I updated my phone to the new froyo 2.2. I have had it since it came out for root. I have been having an issue with Gmail. Every time I get a message and read it then hit the exit or return button on the bottom, it just reloads the same message. If I hit it twice really fast it goes back to the main gmail screen with all my emails, sometimes. If I hit it multiple times it finally goes back to the home screen. I have wiped my phone several times and even have had multiple roms on my phone too. Has anyone else had this issue and any ideas on how to fix it.
