2G connection on Droid X?

Hi, first post, used search and my question didnt come up.

Was wondering if I can use 2G connectivity on a Droid X? I KNOW this sounds really stupid, you might be thinking something like "Why would you use 2G on a Droid X?? That's like running windows 98 on a core i7!" and maybe its supposed to be obvious but just asking

Planning on getting a Droid X and want to use 3G but my mom is stingy and doesnt want to pay $30 a month, and I'm a student so I'd be bankrupt by next semester if I paid.

So for some reason I cant find the answer anywhere: Can the Droid X run on a 2G phone connection? And also does getting 3G include internet access?

A simple Google search would reveal that a data plan is REQUIRED to use your Droid X. It's either all or nothing.

And yes, that is the point of 3g, it includes internet access. If I'm not mistaken, data is sent over 3g while voice is sent over 1x.
