My phone no longer turns off the 3g radio while wifi is connected. I cant figure out why it no longer functions like it was. i prefer it off to save battery life
I think there's something funny about how this works. On mine last week the 3G went off with wifi on but never came back when I lost my wifi signal. I had to remove battery and now I have wifi and 3G again. I called Verizon about this and they didn't indicate to me that 3G should be off with wifi on. Who knows.
I think its done that way on purpose. If you turn the data connection off it would take too long to turn back on. 4g phones have to use eHRPD, which is used for handoffs between data connections of different cell technologies. It would be inefficient to have to reconnect every time so they leave it inactive but stays connected. Just a theory but makes sense to me.
