a few questions about the droid...

I am a future droid owner (will get my phone in about a week) and have a few questions:

1) is there any alternative way to "wake up" the droid? the unlock button on the top of the phone is so awkwardly placed... is there a way to use the camera button to unlock the phone or maybe a long press on one of the touchkeys?

2) not a question about the droid, but about android... If you have an htc android phone running sense UI, can you still use custom home replacements?

3) anyone have any videos of replacement keyboards on the droid? i found the virtural keyboard to be almost useless compared to the iphone's which i'm used to. I'd love a decent replacement and i'm wondering if anyone knows of any...

thats pretty much it....

the first two people to post helpful responses will get google voice invites for their troubles.

1. The only other way I know of is just sliding it open. Other than that, just the unlock button.
2. Yes. Panda home is a good free alternative.
3. Better keyboard is just about the best replacement out there. Its theme-able too.

i've heard that phones running sense can't use new home replacements, you're saying they can?

Oh I misread your original post. No I don't think they can. Not yet anyway.

Just slide it open a tiny bit. Just enough to show bottom row of keys on keyboard then close. I do that instead of using top power button.

for what it's worth:

ScreenModeWidget, which is designed to allow bypassing the lockscreen when turned on, also causes both the volume and camera buttons to wake up the phone. The downside is that you lose the lockscreen and the phone will wake up in your pocket much more easily. The upside is quick access and not needing to use the power button to wake. I use it when using the phone as a media device.

Just found LockBoot Pro I can replace the default lock screen , create a new one , wake the device with any of the hard keys and shake the device to unlock .
