A quick question

How many D3 owners have taken the plunge and updated to the leaked 5.7.906 update? I'm kinda getting anxious about the official one and getting tired of waiting. I want some advice about this. Should I go ahead and update, wait for the official OTA, etc. What are the major changes you have noticed with it? I know that it could possibly put me off the update path, but whatever, that's what ROMs are for. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

TBH, I have had great luck with .890 and I'm staying here. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

@guidot: Yeah, for some reason my signal has been acting up and my phone seems kinda slower for some reason. Even after wiping cache and everything. And my keyboard likes to act up on occasion...

@shane1: I would totally give ICS a go if the hardware codecs and other broken things were fixed. Camera function is a big deal for me, believe it or not. :D

If I'm honest, there's only one deal breaker for me with ICS. Video. FFC and regular camera work very well considering.

My phone has not reached the sluggish area yet. Do you have a lot if info on your sdcard, internal or external?

Well, I just recently transfered ALL of my SDcard contents onto my internal SDcard, but before that it was kinda half in half. I have a 16gb SD but it was still kinda laggy. And most everything I have on my SD card I use daily.

I'd wait until the official release. There is no guarantee that this will be the official release, and I think you run the risk of getting off the ota upgrade path with no way back on. Also, one unbrick method is to sbf back to official software, and i don't think we have an sbf for 906 yet.

I am like guidot - I have few problems with current, and the very few issues that crop up are so minor that they are not worth mentioning. Perhaps I am just lucky.

Yeah, I probably will. I have another question. The pictures that leaked of the upcoming updates etc. for Verizon's devices show update sizes, right? The one for the Droid 3 is 225MB. If it's just going to be a bug fixer, why is it so huge of a file size? Is it because of the radio and such? I'm just wondering. And what is TBD?

sleep function?

.906 is official. My new replacement d3 (they actually gave me a brand new d3!) Has it stock. This bad boy actually wakes up from sleep! But other than that, i haven't noticed anything different. But then again i've never used stock .890 (rooted and rom'ed my old d3 right out the box)...

Yeah, I've been reading about people having .906 on their replacements. And I waited to root mt phone a couple of weeks. Still haven't put a ROM on it. Yet.
