? about SMS apps

If I use a sms app such as Handcent, since that seems the most popular, does the sms show up on your phone bill?

Thanks,
Rynn

It sends sms messages just like the stock app, so if you don't have a text plan you'll get charged. I believer the google voice app will bypass that though if you get an account

I don't care about being charged, I want something that will not show the sms numbers on the bill. Even w/ my text plan, Verizon will still show a log. That's what I don't want

Are there others besides GV that will do what I want?

You might want to verify this but if you use Chomp and send via Chomp then it shouldn't be sent via the carrier:

turn off notifications in your stock messaging app, just like handcent says for you to do.
Yea but I still get the one in the notification bar and it stays there even when I click it.
Are you sure it's the notification from the stock app? If so, you didn't disable the notification properly. Make sure you're disabling it in the Messaging app settings.
