Active Notifications brings one of the greatest Moto X features to your Android 4.3 device with an AMOLED screen. Phones that fit this category include Galaxy S4 with 4.3 Rom, Google Play phones that have been updated, and Nexus devices like the Nexus 4. The app allows you to receive important notifications when your screen is turned off. The display will light up discretely when you receive an email or text message. Active Notifications allows you to see exactly what the notification is which is more than your current led notification light does.

FEATURES:
* Notifications don't light up when your phone is in your pocket, purse, or face down to avoid accidental unlocks
* Select which app-notifications you'd like to receive via ActiveNotifications
* "Sleep at night": Don't show notifications at night (Premium feature)
* "More privacy": Hide additional notification details (e.g. SMS text, sender) (Premium feature)
* Automatically switch off screen when dismissing notifications(Premium feature)

Sweet find. Hopefully the dev gets it to work with versions < 4.3 then I'll grab it for sure.

wonder what is more energy efficient. led flashing or screen flashing...

anybody got this on their android 4.3 phone with led notificator to test?

Unless you have an AMOLED screen, I don't think it's even close. It works for the Moto X because they aren't firing all the pixels on the AMOLED screen. Other screens are still using a lot more power for this even if they are blacking out most of the display.

Also, it's supposedly only available in 4.3 because it makes use of some new Android feature not included in prior builds.

If my S3 ever gets on 4.3, I'll give it a shot. At the same time though, I have my LED change colors depending on what the notification is so I know what I am going to see before I see it. Still cool though.
