Aesthetics questions...

I love the look of GB v0.9, but there are a few small things I'd like to change.

The color of the time and date in the notification bar.
The color of text in the pull down menu.
The color/location of text on the lockscreen. (I know I could make an identical one with widget locker, but I'd like to keep it simple)

For the time, date color, and pull down menu text I believe you have to edit services.jar using framework-res.apk..I figured this xml would be framework-res.apk but I have never been able to get anything to change. I think there's a guide out there somewhere that explains the process on how to do this (it's pretty in depth but def possible). I'll see if I can find the guide for you.

Not sure if you change the color of the text for the lock screen without changing all the system text to that color. This edit would probably be somewhere in framework-res.apk. As far as the location goes for that text all you would have to do is mess around with the layout numbers in the xml that controls that. I know some of this may sound very vague but It's really all about finding what xml controls what and then just playing around with it until you get it to your liking. Hope this helps.

It does help, thank you...I'm a newb to theming, just starting playing with AndroidSDK and other related programs. Any hints or tips to offer?

As for system color, that would be the color in the clock, date etc...correct? Would that also be used for the font on buttons such as "Send" in Handcent? I'm asking, because I noticed they changed when I Custom Android Font Switcher to change the style.

Oh ok cool. Yeah as far as programs to use PS it's where it's at (if you have it) and apk manager 4.9 it def much more user friendly than apk tool for making your theme. Draw 9 patch tool is also very useful in Android SDK. For basic themeing ninjamorph works really well (basic png edits mostly).

For designing themes just try and be as creative, original, and detail oriented as possible..I'm starting to realize that a lot of styles/colors have already been done before so you to either have to update them to the rom you are using, add in your own touch to them, or take a chance and come up with something totally fresh and unique yet not too much so that only appeals to a handful of people. The last one is by far the most challenging but definitely the one to go for ;)

I've been trying to tweak some of the the buttons etc on Handcent to match the black/yellow of Liberty, any tips on that?

You could try using ninjamorph and just switching out the png's. Just make sure they are not .9 png's. If you get force closes then you will have to use apk manager or apk tool to extract the apk then zip back up with the files you changed. Then just uninstall the version you have now and install the themed version.

Edit - Didn't see your previous question about the system font color. Yeah I believe that color that shows up on the button send and other places is being pulled from the overall font color from framework-res.

The Top & bottom Bars on Handcent are just PNGs, but everytime I try to edit (Make them semi transparent) they don't change and I have to re download the skin, any idea?

If you want you can pm the png's you want changed (named correctly so I know what you want changed) and I can give it a go for you.
