After 2.1 Sending txt is very slow

I'm using the stock txt message app that came on my Eris. Now since the 2.1 upgrade, even when I send a very small txt... (like 1 word). It gives a little box that says "Please wait" and a little spinning circle.

It takes at least 5-8 seconds to send.

Any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?

could be if you have like no service. Thats my only idea. My problem is kind of similar. I use Handcent SMS for texting on my phone, but now every time a recieve a text I get two copies of it. One in Handcent and one in the default messages app. How can I disable the default app so only handcent works. I know i did this before.

I've been having slowness issues with texting and with typing in general. I think some new predictive text stuff they put in is horking up the system.
