Hello all .. OK, First;
I'm a Bionic Newb, Verizon Wireless is my carrier, my Bionic is less than a year old, it is NOT rooted (simply because I ain't smart enough to mess with it) and since the last latest and "greatest" (???) OS upgrade, my battery lasts less than a day when off the charger :frown:

A couple more pieces of info;
-Besides AIM, I have not installed ANY apps
-The email accounts I use are web based and corporate (Yahoo and work)
-Primary use is texting and email
-I have taken some videos and pics with it

-In another thread on this forum, it instructed the user to wipe the cache clean via the boot menu, which I have done (successfully :) ) .. .twice
-The app that is avaialble for Sprint users "Bloat Freezer" is not for Verizon users (unless theres another name it goes by)

I'll leave my phone on at bed time with 50% battery life ... wake up to find it needs the charger because its red lining

Any help is much appreciated

What is your battery statistics need more details go to settings batter to view this. The bionic only has like 1-3 he's of screen time

While you can't freeze bloatware without rooting, ICS will let you disable them.

To be honest my Bionic lasts less than a day as well, but the last phone I had that lasted over a day was my LG Voyager (closer to a week). It lasts over 12 hours which is good enough for me.

Hi Mehimatt .. stats are
Screen 60%
Android 30%
Cell standby 5%
Phone idle 4%
Android system 3%

Hopefully this is what you're referring to

Yea that's pretty much what I was referring to. Your best bets to get an extended battery because that's about what I get on mine... Sorry for not posting back right away

I would say your battery is acting normal. I've had the Bionic for about 15 months. On my best day, I went to bed with about 20% remaining. On a typical day it would need to be at 5-10% remaining by the time I got home from work at 5:30pm and many days it didn't make it to the end of the work day.

After the ICS update, battery life has worsened. I now throw it on the charger or swap the battery around 1-2pm each day. I tried using Smart Actions but it kept causing data loss and took a lot of jumping through hoops to get everything working again. There are several other major problems with the ICS update so I am probably jumping to another phone soon anyway.

Phone makers have got to ensure that a phone can last for at least 12 hours of typical use on a standard battery!

After ICS update you need to wipe cache under recovery at minimum but honestly you should do factory reset cause jump from GB to ICS is big on os system it will reformat everything and will improve battery life. I had same issue on my bionic and D4 both and someone on forum told me about factory reset and I did that and now I almost always make it a full day on a single charge unless I game a lot on it.

I wiped the cache two days after the upgrade and again two weeks after that. Last week I did a factory reset. I still get fast battery rains, hot batteries, random restarts, and a few other problems.

I apparently have a bum phone because I have two different OEM batteries and they have never lasted an entire day, let alone 40 hours! When I first bought the phone, it would typically make it to 10pm but no longer. Right before ICS it was making it to around 5-6pm. After ICS it rarely makes it to 2pm.

I was trying to use Smart Actions so that data sync would turn off any time the screen was off. This was working well and I went to bed with around 50% of my battery left. But after a week of this, the data turned off and refused to turn back on. I tried resetting the phone, pulling the battery, pulling the sim card, wiping the cache, toggling data modes, etc. The data sync returned but it happened again right away. After three days in a row with this problem I just gave up and decided to live with a short battery life.

Even when I did the factory reset, I didn't make any adjustments. I calibrated the battery. I did everything I could to keep the phone stock and installed minimum applications. It still had all these problems. I can see from the threads that there are a lot of people experiencing the same issues.

Well, I use extended battery. I run 3g with screen brightness set to about 30%. And most importantly I am rooted and running eclipse ROM. I try to calibrate my battery every night . that makes a huge difference.

-bionic eclipsed-

When you did factory reset did you erase your external sd card too I have heard a lot of people say you have to wipe that and reformat it cause other wise phone is consistently going through your media after update. just a thought I have heard a lot about that on this and other forums. When I did factory reset I wiped everything and I have had zero problems with battery or lag. I also rarely run 4G as well. Also make sure gps isn't on that drains battery really fast

Thanks everyone .. a lot of great insight into my issue.

I have read a few posts who have great battery life with "heavy" use after a cache wipe .. not so much for me.

So its onto step 2 .. factory reset.

Which brings up another question:

- Do I move all my pics/vid/songs to my card then move them off of that before the reset ?
(It would seem the thing to do, but I dont know )

All of your pics and videos are stored on your SD card so there's no need to move them. Factory reset wipes your internal memory like text messages and recent calls. If you want to save your SMS messages use an app like SMS backup before you reset.

Does anyone else have a charging problem? When I plug in my phone, instead of charging, sometimes it won't charge, and if I'm using it, it will drain the battery and sometimes die, while on the charger!!! I've gotten 3 new chargers and they work perfectly for about a month, and then it will do that. It has to be in a correct position and today it seems like it can't charge past 70%. It's really irritating and I cannot buy another charger. I just cleared my cache as well, but any help would be appreciated.
