all my contacts are missing

Only 6 contacts are showing up. But if I go into the call log, I see many others I have called. And there info (name) is there. I go to the contacts tab, and all I see are 6 of my contacts. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks,
Joe

BTW, they were there yesterday. I logged into Facebook app on the phone and noticed this issue a little while later.

I fixed the problem, but am not sure what caused it. I went into the contacts, hit import from SD card and it searched and imported my contacts. Now they are all there again. But I never put them on my SD card to begin with. Only thing I can think of is that the update that went over the air made a backup of the contacts that were stored on the phone. Either way, my 200+ contacts are back.

Hope this helps someone else that might experience this.

It has something to do with not having your contacts synced properly. I don't know specifically what you don't have checked off but you may want to go through both your gmail and Droid settings and make sure you have everything synced properly or it will happen again next update.

Also you may want to consider using a back up app like My Backup Pro or WaveSecure. Both will allow you to backup to their servers.

Same thing happened to me following the 20091211 update - all contacts were still there (could be found using the search function), but would not all list.

Importing from the vCard has them all now displaying. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for posting this.
I was feeling like a total dumbass, cause i couldn't find contacts that i KNEW were on my phone, and if i manually entered a number i knew i had before, the name and number would pop up when i dialed it, as if it was somewhere hidden all super secret like on my phone.

I had this same thing happen to me, but I finally figured it out.

To fix it, open up your keyboard and hit backspace a few times, at some point you probably hit a key on the keyboard and your contacts are showing only people with that letter.

This worked for me, it sounds like the same exact thing that happened to me, took me forever to figure this out.
