Ally won't switch orientation

I just got a new (refurbished) Ally from Asurion after I cracked the screen on my original phone. Now the phone won't switch orientation when I rotate it unless I open the keyboard. When I close the keyboard and rotate back to portrait it won't switch orientation either. I know it doesn't work on the homescreem normally but if I'm texting, on facebook or browsing etc. it still won't work. I have the option checked in settings that its supposed to switch so I know that's not the problem. Help please!

I would prefer not to factory reset because I just got the phone yesterday and downloaded all apps and stuff...but if there aren't any other responses I'll try that first
