so friday i ordered the droid x. It will be arriving sometime before 3pm tomorrow and i dont know too much about the phone. i like to have my info together so i know what to do in advanced, its just the way i am. I bought it from verizon wireless.com for $150, certified pre-owned, a deal i couldnt pass up, and being that i currently, and for years, have had blackberry's, it was time for a change. Anybody whos ever owned a blackberry will probably teel you that its about the biggest POS on the market. With the constant freezing and the failures of the storm and storm2's touchscreen, as well as the horrible lag on all the phones and sporadic resets that can take up to 7 min to complete, i was beyond DONE. So now im onto androids, which ive heard very positive things about. So theres my intro, and now time for my questions in which i hope i can get some simple and educated answers..

....

1.the x comes with 2.1, where do i download 2.2 from? is it from a menu on the actual device?

2. Are there any "must have" apps? what do i have on the droid that i couldnt either have, or enjoy as much, on any other phone?

3. im assuming that "back up assistant" will still work on this phone but im not SURE so im asking. Would much rather not have to deal with a retailer to transfer my info.

well thats it for now. if anyone knows anything that might be helpful please feel free to post it up, can never have too much info. thanks fellas

i had join another droid forum but it would seem as though there aren't many people there, this place has a much larger group.

Welcome to the forum. I don't have an X but I'm gonna guess the info for the 2.2 is under menu/settings/about phone. Some droids can pull the update over the air. I suggest you get the droidforum app.

Welcome! You will find many former BB users here who can help with the transition. Additionally, check out the entire X section in the Forum especially the FAQ section.

If you are willing to switch to Gmail it will sync and backup your contacts very nicely.
