Alphabetic order - what happened?

My contacts were transferred from a Palm device to my new Droid X. Contacts are now alphabetized by first name, not last. Why?

I had the opposite problem. My TP2 transferred them last name first... I can't stand it. There is no way to sort them on 2.1... apparently on froyo you will be able to. I had to delete all them and put them back in first name first...
