ALT+TAB Change Apps

Can we discuss the different ways to move between open apps. So far I have only been able to open Advanced Task Killer and choose "Switch To" from the alternate menu of the app I want to switch to. This takes 4 clicks/swipes/holds and should be simpler. Does anyone know of a better way to switch apps?

I figured out that holding the home key displays the six most recent apps used. Is that what you were saying?
