Always turns on when charging

My Droid always turns on when it is charging, is this normal? If I turn it off while it is charging, it always turns right back on. Also, it won't go into sleep mode while it is charging - the display always stays lit. Is there any way to at least get it to sleep while charging, if not turn it off?

It's designed to stay on while charging...It does no harm....
goto settings>>applications>>development

Uncheck stay awake....then the screen will stay off but the Droid will still be on but charging.....
