Android 2.1??

I am new to the Droid and I love it!! I understand it runs on the Android 2.0?? I've read about the 2.1 coming out (or already has).... Can I upgrade/update to it?

2.1 for the Droid has not been released. You can root and install a 2.1 ROM that has been ripped from another phone.
