The dev community comes through again! A year ago the LG G3 was one of the first devices to run Android Lollipop. As it turns out they may be one of the last to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This is what happens to devices. As newer devices come out older devices drop down the priority list, and are eventually End Of Life'd never to be updated again.
If you always buy phones that can be rooted and can run custom roms you will essentially always have the latest and greatest builds of Android at your disposal whether or not the OEM decides to continue to update your device. A perfect example of this is the Marshmallow rom that was just ported over to the LG G3!
The rom is currently experimental and has several bugs. In fact this rom is currently not usable as a daily driver. The bugs will be hammered out in future builds. If you wanted to try out 6.0 on your LG G3 grab the rom from below. Just be sure to make a backup of your current setup so you can easily restore it.
