Android Market Installing Issue

Having problems installing Fruit Ninja or MiniSquadron? Don't worry, you aren't the only one. It seems as though there is an issue going on where a few developers have started having their games install right to the SD Card by default from the market which in turn has created a bit of an install issue.

While the game downloads successfully it will begin installing to your phone but after a period of time will fail. MiniSquadron's developer has issued an unofficial workaround for this problem:

"On your sd card, locate and delete the file ...android_secure/smdl2tmp1.asec (this is a temporary file and won't harm your phone to remove it). Then redownload/reinstall the app - it *should* now work fine."
You can also try un-mounting or removing you microSD card during the installation process which should force an install to the internal memory.

Google is aware of the problem and has responded to the support thread that has sprung up because of this. While it is only isolated to a few (but very popular) titles, as more developers choose this route it could become a much bigger issue if not resolved.

Here is a email I have received from the makers of Fruit Ninja, see if this works as well.

Thanks for the email and letting us know of the issue you are experiencing. There are a few things that you can do to attempt to resolve this issue:
· From other users who are experiencing a similar problem – the one fix that we have been informed that works is for you to cancel the download and try again.
· Alternatively restart your phone – ensure that no apps are running and try to download Fruit Ninja again.
· Advice we have received from Google suggests that you:
o Go to settings, select "applications," then select "manage applications"
o Press menu and select "filter" then "All"
o Scroll down to "Checkin Service, Download Manager, Google Apps, Google Talk Service" and for each, select "clear data"
o Scroll down to "Market" then select "clear cache"
o Reboot.

We are working on resolving this issue as a matter of priority.

If you have been able to resolve your issue, please let us know how you were able to do this so that we can assist other people who are having this problem and we can ensure that we have done everything in our power to eliminate this issue permanently.

Nice. Thanks for the extra solution. Hopefully one of these mentioned will help people so they can get these games finally.

I bought it yesterday and it hung at the validating screen. Got a refund then went home and tried it again and it loded up fine. Kinda wierd
