Samsung has not had the best track record when it comes to Android updates. They tend to update devices one by one and one carrier version may have an update several months ahead of the next carrier version. Samsung has still not provided Marshmallow for every flagship version. Google meanwhile has just rolled out the 3rd Developer Preview of their latest version of Android.

Google is expected to release the final version of Android N in the coming months. Now sources say that Samsung plans to update most of their flagships to Android N during the fourth quarter of this year. That fits Samsung's normal update schedule. According to sources the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy Note 5 will be among the first to receive the update.

Then, once the carriers are done adding bloatware and playing with it, we will get it sometime in the first quarter of 2017. If the planets align and the stars twinkle just the right way.

AT&T Note 5 still hasn't got marshmallow.... the idea that Android N will ever happen is looking ridiculous at this point.

On my Note8 Samsung skipped a few firmware updates and jumped from the first release of Jelly Bean to the last release of Kit Kat. Perhaps in light of M not being pushed yet they're gonna repeat that style of update before abandonment.
