Android phone ringing for no reason (lets fix)

I know this has been posted before, but there doesn't appear to be any resolution. I'd like to try to find some similarities (apps) with the folks having this problem.

The problem: The phone will start ringing (not a ring tone, just a standard ring), faintly, for no apparent reason. It is not due to a text message, or call, or any other notification. You have to reboot the phone to get rid of it, and it will continue to ring, even while shutting down. It will not stop until the phone goes black. On occasion, even shutting it off and powering back on does not resolve it. This morning I had that very problem. I turned OFF my phone, only to turn it back on to the ringing. I had to do a restart to get rid of it. I have had this same problem with THREE different phones.... the Samsung S3, the HTC Droid DNA, and now my HTC ONE.

I suspect an application may be causing this, since it doesn't appear to affect everyone using a droid. My suspicions point to "Alarm Clock Xtreme" .... does anyone with this issue also have this application installed?
