Hey guys, I've been researching out some tablet ideas for the wives anniversary gift. So far the best I can come up with is either the Kindle Fire (for the money it seems to be the best).
But I wanted to get her something a little bit more 'nice'. So I've looked at the Transformer Prime and a couple others.

Do you guys have any recommendations for any tablets?

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at wi-fi only models I guess. Don't want to have to pay $30/month for the 3G connection. We already pay the $30/month per phone for us so.. another $30/month ain't happening.

How big of a tablet does she want? If she wants a smaller one you could go for the Samsung 7" model, don't know if it's out yet or not. The Kindle Fire makes a great tablet from what I hear, and if you're familiar with root then it only gets better

I'm very happy with the Samsung 2 7.0. Returned the Acer Iconia a100 which was far less enjoyable than the Samsung so far. We have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which has been excellent also. Picked up a used iPad a few weeks ago, and its used the least .

+1 on the new Samsung 7" coming out soon. I have the Kindle right now and love it....But... Amazon pretty much has it locked down to thier site only.
The new Samsung is a full blown Android device w/ ICS and rumored to be coming in at $250. So much worth the $50 extra for a full android experience. E- books, games, and light surfing the Kindle is perfect. Want it for more and you have to go for the Android IMO ;-)

It's really nice, especially at its price point. It has handled everything I've needed it too so far (only been a week). I don't foresee myself returning this one.

As much as I hate to say it I would actually suggest a new iPad for the wife....unless she appreciates the android os she likely would enjoy ios more.

BOOOOO!!! My wife first wanted an Ipad just because.... Till she got an Iphone. Now she's glade she didn't. She likes my Bionic 10 times better. She absolutely (Hates) IOS! TOTALLY regreting her iphone. Always asking me " why can't my phone do that??? " A 3 1/2" iscreen is bad enough, a 10" would end up in my trash. $500-800 and never used! What a waste of f&%$ money!!!

An iPhone and iPad are two totally different devices.

You can get a iPad 3 which has a 2048x1536 retina display for $499, it has many more tablet optimized apps and is top of the heap in tablets...I hate Apple more than you know but the iPad is a nice device.

The iPhone is laughable.

Sorry! If thats true then I stand corrected. Never used an ipad. Not a hater, but the iphone really does suck!

I actually am a hater, it's why I avoid all Apple discussions. Don't want to be a troll. I just wanted the OP to know about the options available, I personally would take a TF Prime over an iPad any day...but I know the inner workings of Android much better than the average user.

Most women seem to be better suited with the simplest option available when it comes to this type of technology, no offense intended as this is just my opinion based on years of tech support. There are those women who wish to get in there and root, rom, break and fix things with the best of them...but not many.

I had the Kindle Fire and enjoyed it but bought the new Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 as soon as it was available and like it much better than the KF. The KF is a nice tablet but severely crippled hardware-wise in that it doesn't have things like expandable storage, Bluetooth, camera(s), GPS and microphone. The Tab 2 7.0 has all that plus full ICS. Well worth the $50 premium over the cost of the KF.
