Hey everyone, my name is Toby.

I just bought my Motorola Droid about a week ago. So far I'm really impressed with it. I'm new to smart phones so I'm learning just how much they can really do (especially this one). Before now I could never justify the monthly data plan fee. ;)

I've been lurking like crazy trying to find out all I can about the various accessories available. What I really need now is a case. After trying the Luxmo snap on hard case (and not liking it) I think I'll try a pouch case instead; maybe something like the Sena Ultraslim.

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on getting the Droid, you've got the best there is.

I do feel that it's better to start off on a Blackberry and then come to the Droid. Not that you need that type of experience, it just makes you appreciate the Droid so much more.

Yes,the learning curve isn't that bad. This phone opens up new things for you. It's a breakthrough device, soon there more and better devices. You're starting at a good time. Make it through with a brand new device, you'll be set when the truly remarkable stuff gets here. Read, poke the buttons, and ask if you get stumped.

I know what you mean about appreciating the Droid more if you've had other smart phones. Up until now I just couldn't justify $30 a month for the data plan when I knew the device wouldn't be all THAT easy to use. So I guess the fact that I now feel it's worth the money shows how much better the Droid is. :)

The Droid's navigation really sold me too. I just moved 1100 miles from Pennsylvania to Iowa and I don't know how to get to some of the cities around here. I'm very spontaneous so it's nice to know that if I'm out and about and decide to head to somewhere new I can find my way. I always have my phone with me; that's not the case with my GPS units. ;)

Also, thanks for the warm welcome!

I think you are gonna find this is the best forum for the Droid, hands down. I have learned so much on this forum! Welcome!
