Either Samsung is having a really long run of bad luck, or someone who manages their factory safety needs to make some improvements. Not too long ago, the company had two different hydrochloric acid leaks which killed or injured some workers. Also, very recently they had a fire, although no deaths were reported from that. Just yesterday it was reported that a factory worker was killed from a carbon dioxide leak.
Here's a quote from Yonhap news with the only known information about this latest accident,
SUWON/SEOUL, March 27 (Yonhap) -- A gas leakage at a Samsung facility in southern Seoul sparked by a malfunction of the fire extinguishing system left one worker dead, local authorities id Thursday, raising concerns over the safety conditions at the country's top tech giant amid a series of similar accidents.
Local police and fire authorities said the building's safety system released carbon dioxide after it wrongly detected fire, suffocating a 52-year-old man who worked for a partner company of Samsung. ~ Yonhap News
It's strange how often this happens at Samsung factories. It makes you wonder if one of their competitors has placed a voodoo hex on them.
(More than likely it's just rushed production schedules and lax safety standards.)
