Answer screen

I've noticed 2 answering screens in v5, one that has a button to answer the calls, and one with a slider. What causes each one to come up, and can I choose to only have the button to answer calls?

Great question...I want to keep the button as default too and haven't found out the settings. I've been using easy answer button to try to keep the button, but it doesn't always come up either. The swipe thingy doesn't work so well for me.

Try incoming call plus, works better and has a nice option to reject and send an auto txt. I just like the ui of the stock button answer more

swype down to answer swype up to decline or tap top to decline and reply with sms it auto fills with a txt that says your unavailable

If I'm not mistaken it depends on your status...if your using the phone and the screen is on you will get the buttons; if the screen is off and you receive a call you will get the slider.

Someone else can check it out and confirm.

I think this is correct

It makes sense that way. Why would you want a button style to answer when the lock screen is active? With a button style, you'd end up pocket answering half the calls you get (if and when your phone is in your pocket).

I keep my phone in a holster, so i dont have to worry about pocket answering. I do have to worry sometimes about dirty hands, and buttons keep my screen cleaner as apposed to smearing stuff on the screen while swiping.

I am having the same issue. Sometimes when the phone is in my pocket and locked I get the slide to answer screen. Other times I get the push button to answer and it is causing many pocket answers. There seems to be no pattern to it.

I have tried as many apps as I could find through these forums but nothing seems to stop this. Todds Droid Tools got the closest however there is a lag of 3-4 seconds when the push buttons are still active before the app kicks in.

This issue is enough to push me into dumping the Droid that I otherwise really enjoy. Anyone find an answer yet?

The slide to answer only comes up when the screen is turned off, and the push to answer comes up when the screen is turned on.

The only way I see that you are getting the push to answer in your pocket is probably because the physical keyboard slid out a fraction of the way causing the launcher to FC and the phone to unlock as a consequence; by this time, your screen is turned on and your phone is unlocked, causing any number of things to happen inside your pocket (pocket calls, pocket answer, pocket anything really).

majority of people dont use holsters though.

Ummm, where you answering kip256? I think you were; in any case he should just buy a microfiber cloth. Swipe or touch, fingerprints are going to be on your phone regardless and a microfiber cloth does wonders to keep in as clean as it can be.

yeah..it was just a lazy response on my part.

I was just thinking that the majority of people dont use holsters...so the touch call answer would be a negative for all of us (if it were permanently that way). The slide answer is my preference as I keep my phone in my pocket...and like you said...it would lead to unintentional answering of calls.

I use a lens cloth to wipe my screen. Its actually a ray ban sunglasses cloth that came with an extra glasses case I had. I also lay my phone on it while its on surfaces to keep the back from getting scratched up.
