Any way to trigger camera remotely?

I'd like to put my Droid X on a small tripod to take pictures with myself in them. I read on another forum that you can do this with an Iphone by using the volume control on some earphones attached to the phone. Has anyone figured out how to trigger a Droid X camera from a distance?

Doesn't it have a timer in the camera app? I'm pretty sure all my Android phones have this.

If it does, I don't know how to locate it. I would be just as happy with that!
