For the stock unrooted droids? Everything I've read about is for rooted droids. Is it going to be available in the market for us non rooted droiders? I've already got the 2.2update and just wondering...

You don't need to be rooted to get it. Just download the .apk from the link provided on these forums, copy it to your phone, then open it with an app like Astro to install it. All you're doing is installing the app manually rather than through the market.

As people have stated, you should have seen it by now if you are on FRG22D. What Droid are you on and what does the 'About Phone' state as your current build?

If you are stock but still on FRG01B for some reason, you can do the stock FRG22D update manually. Download it here, rename it "update.zip", copy to your SD card, boot into recovery, and install.

Then you should see Flash in the market

How do I get the frg22d? I'm a techno-moron...can I get it through the phone or do I have tohook up to my PC?

Verizon will push it to your phone without you doing a thing. It is the most recent update that is ongoing at this moment. Wait and it will come.

Or...you can look for the FRG22D for non-root users, download the file (it's from Google/Verizon) and install it manually.

I'm stock running Froyo FRG22D and it is in the market for me.

this is what you need to see it in the market

There should be instructions in the thread on how to do it. If you are completely unfamiliar with the process, the easiest way is to get the update on your computer and move it from the computer to the phone. Just make sure to rename the file to update.zip before you try and do the update, as the update process expects to see an update.zip file when you do the force update.

I would not recommend downloading it directly to the phone, as I think you might get easily confused with the Astro File Manager (My first time using it, it took me a while to get used to how they did things and I am a techy type person).

I would HIGHLY recommend that you backup your SDcard just in case. While the update should not do anything to the SD card or anything else, from experience with other users, they tend to have a tendency to accidentally do other things they shouldn't do and wipe out things and tend to blame the update.

Lastly, when all else fails, refer to your Verizon representative.

BTW, the update I gave you was pointed for the Droid 1 phone (Motorola Droid)... If you are using a different Droid phone, you should wait for the OTA update, or look at the Droid News Forum to see if there is an announcement for the update for your particular phone there.

Ok...so the frg01b ota update was the 2.2 right? And now this frg22d is a new ota update? If that the case then I should be getting notification. Some time soon since the west coast got the 2.2 ota update about a week before the east coast.

Actually, no. The west coast didn't get the 2.2 ota update a week before the east coast. The distribution is completely random. My wife's frg22d update came last night. Mine hasn't shown up yet.

Just be patient if you don't want to update manually. You'll get it. Not that it will revolutionize your life.
