App,calling,contact bar moving!

I'm a new droid owner with the droidX I was exploring what widgets I could put up when my bottom bat that has the buttons that take you to the phone, apps, or contacts moved to the side. I what it at the bottom of the screen but can get it back. Any one know what I did and how I can fix it? Thanks

I fixed the problem by a simple restarting of the phone. I would still like to know if any one knows why this happened?
