App Stores Galore?!?!?!

Why is every company/manufaturer trying to create there own app store with pretty much the same apps? It seems kinda pointless. I mean i understand Apple and Android, RIM and Microsoft have there own because of their platforms but Amazon, and VZW, and many others creating there own stores with all the same apps seems like a waste.

each store has their own specific apps and they're hoping you'll download those. i guess that's the reason.

Hey, I got Angry Birds Rio free today at Amazon's Market. Nothing wrong with that.

They all probably have the various stores for the various apps for the different platforms for ease of use. I would hate to scroll through a bunch of apps that I CAN'T purchase. I just want to see what I can get for my phone.

Why are you making that assumption?

I mean, Angry Birds Rio isn't in the Android Market, for example.

How is more choice worse? You don't have to use the other markets if you don't see the point.
