I just enrolled in college and they do their email through gmail. Is there anyway to transfer accounts so i can get rid of the garbage gmail all my apps are synced to. I don't use it at all. I'd like to keep all my apps and contacts though.

My main purpose is getting email notifications so if there is no way I'll just add my college email to my accounts, but i was curious if i could get rid of my old one altogether

Mark unwanted email as spam or unsubscribe to unwanted senders. You could also create another gmail account and import contacts, and give the school the new address

It's been over a month but i'm reviving this thread so i can hopefully get some answers...
Once again,
MY MAIN PURPOSE is to get email notifications from my college gmail account while still using all my purchased apps, so I'll rephrase.

Is there a way to transfer apps to my new gmail? OR Is there a way to add more than one gmail account to one phone? OR Is there any way at all just to be notified by my phone when i receive an email on my college account, any way at all?

No, there is currently no way to transfer paid apps to a new account.

You can have multiple gmail accounts on the phone, I currently have 2. Just go to settings > accounts > add account. You may or may not have to add it into your email client on the phone, depending on what you use to retrieve the email. Which goes into your next question. Your college account, is it the 2nd gmail account you're asking about? To answer how to get notified for new email on that account, it depends on what app you'll be using to access that email. I, personally, use k9 mail so am familiar with it, but it'll do separate notifications for each account, and you can configure the types of notifications for them. For the stock gmail app, I believe it does support multiple accounts, but I've not dug into its notification settings.

Also I tried adding the account and it errors out so I guess even if I could transfer apps it wouldn't matter.

I ended up forwarding all my mail to a yahoo account and using their app.
