so i thought i'd buy an app i found useful. it was listed as .99 euro....
i didn't think that the conversion fees for buying something in euros would be that drastic, but they are: a 1 euro app wound up costing me $ 18 !!

it's past 24 hrs, can i still return it and get the charges reversed ?
apparently it's google that is charging the conversion fee....

1.00 EUR=1.36171 USD

What did you buy?

Never seen a conversion fee.

If's it's over 24 hours AFAIK you cannot get a refund.

Edit: just checked and the 5 or 6 that I bought from overseas has no conversion fee.

it was probably my credit card that added the fee then....

i bought anyRRS reader. so, guess i won't be buying any more apps in currencies other than USD.....

I guess the fees vary significantly depending on your bank or card issuer. I bought a €1.99 app back in January. With the exchange rate at the time, I actually paid $2.86, plus a separate International fee of 50 cents charged by my bank. Maybe you can find a prepaid card that has lower international fees than your current card.

When you buy a app in euros is shows you the US value before you hit checkout.

no, there was no USD amount listed. it was shown as .99 euro only....

anyway, my cc will be hearing about this because i always pay off my charges in full every month, so if they can't remove that rediculous $ 17+ fee, they will have to find another customer....
